My emotions with Bokaro is very high because I have grown myself educatiionaly there only. Now I am retired from Indian Air Force as an Assistan Flying Contoller/flight operaion manager/Apron and hanger manager and looking for job in Bokaro only because my father had also serve for SAIL for 26 years in BSP.I too want to serve for SAIL. So, I am just waiting and watching when it will become operational and I get a chance to serve. . . . . . .

Bokaro airport is already capable to handle the flights regularly because it has the proper infra for the facilities. Even the Runway is far longer than Jamshedpur. But it is not becoming operational because of the management and the DGCA who is giving the permission for flight operation from a particuar aiport/aerdromes. One fine day it will be operational. It is sure ..... Just wait and watch...
i m tanveer, and i m working here in dubai, so friend, this birsa munda airport can be an international airport.it will be very easy for people travelling from other countries
bokaro mein airport to banega hi banega, bas dundi bazar ka tutne ka intzar hai, magar dosto humlogo ko aage aa kar esme madad karne ki jarurat hai...........
Last month a team of two officials of Air Deccan met with BSL management and we are already aware of the fast pace development in and around the city. Moreover, there are unconfirmed news that Dundi bag traders, who are doing daily business since many years, are opposing this expansion. However, even after this I am very optimistic on the modernization of Bokaro airport. We need to take fight to our nearest commercial airport Kolkata for flying elsewhere. Hope soon we will boast of our own airport. Other than this if any one have any concrete news on further development of Bokaro Airport then please share it or let us know any common forum for such discussion?
Bokaro Airport will redeveloped in 2011 to commence the regular flight from City to different part of country. Due to huge investment in and around the city, Airport authority has decided to extend the runway length of 1.7 KM to 2.1 KM toward Dundi Bag. So the management has already takes the initiative to shift Dundibag to another place in Sector-12. So in the coming year Bokaro join the club of flight services.
Due to fast Infrastructure development such as real estate hub around the City and industrial investment around more than 200000 Crore such as ArcelorMital, Posco, Electrosteel, Monet Steel, JP Cement, Thermal Power Plant and HP terminal around City goverment has planned to built a new airport along NH-32 having much bigger than existing one. This airport will serve cities, Bokaro and Dhanbad. It'll be built on Public-Private partnership with help of Vedanta Group first of its kind in India with Durgapur(With the help Reliance infra).
The Steel City is all set to figure in the commercial flight map soon, with Air Deccan initiating the process to launch its flights between Bokaro and Kolkata. Bokaro Steel Limited has expressed its readiness to allow the use of its airport for the purpose.
Recently, a team of Air Deccan officials visited the city and surveyed the market potential. They also assessed the airport and its air strip, situated on National Highway-23 (Bokaro-Chas road).
Bokaro is now growing into one of the fast developing city in India, where people want to have more luxuroius and comfortable jurney,But govt. is not looking at this matter and the airport is same as it was 20 years back.Govt . should provide atleast all the domestic level facilities if can not provide world class.
This is what we are hoping in future.it would be really boon for the people of this city if bokaro airport will get networked with all the major cities in India.
Bokaro airport is already capable to handle the flights regularly because it has the proper infra for the facilities. Even the Runway is far longer than Jamshedpur. Airport is situated in the heart of a million+ population city. Dhanbad is also very near(30 km) from Bokaro so it cater both the cities. Civil aviation ministry should look at these factors.
very bad to see this city hasn't got a decent civil airport like jamshedpur . the authorities must look towards this as a challenge. please a build a civil airport for there are so many people here capable of going for airplanes and cannot do so just because of unavailability of it and go to ranchi and kolkatta.
