Atl radar can keep you till 7000 below that you need clear skies there is no instrument appproach. Toccoa Toc is a great alternate with a GPS approach and is in the foothills of the mountains. Franklin has a very friendly staff and a real nice FBO. I suggest landing on RWY 25 and taking off on RWY 7. The check out instructor was nice and pointed out many sightseeing and local landmarks.
