Does not exist any more. Was used mostly for agricultural purposes and in summer time for local passenger service (to the Black Sea shore usually) with small airplanes (12 or 5 seaters). That was good for people but untenable financially. Now most of the land is being rented out or sold to private enterprises to build private residences or for workshops etc.

Reply to @Jan: Thanks for the help. I've changed the status to closed.

Several signs...Look close and you'll see markings on the asphalt on the west side near the yellow boxes. There is a fence/wall covering most of the old runway. And it appears they have made a go cart track on the old apron.

Yes, Logovushka Airfield, used by Kurgan Aviation club. Updated.

English Wikipedia. Search for Chaykovsky and pick the one in Perm Krai

I couldn't find the article in the English Wikipedia -- is it in the Russian one?

Thanks for the info. If anyone finds out the status, please let us know.

Reply to @david: Was supposed to be a question mark after Closed in title. Don't know if it is completely closed, but it is no longer used for any mil- or private regular flights.

Is the runway ever used (say, to fly in new aircraft for display), or is it completely shut down?

This is now used for the Central Air Force Museum

Yes, it was mistake, this airport has no English ICAO.

The pavement looks rough but intact, and although the markings have worn off, nothing's been built on or close to the runway. Is there any way to confirm the airport's status?

Unless this code exist in official ICAO database I think it should be changed to URRA. The Russian code is УРРЯ, which would translate to URRYA.

Reason for this is that Zavetnoe about 100 miles SE has УРРЫ which translates directly to URRY.

I don't know enough about drag racing to know what to look for in the satellite pic. Certainly, I don't see proper runway markings.

This airport is operated by the Russians as part of their claim on the disputed Kuril Islands, near Japan.

This was a busy regional passenger airport during the Soviet era, but fell on hard times afterwards, and stopped operations about 10 years ago.

There are calls for the airport to add customs services and accept international flights, so that passengers can fly directly to Chechnya, without having to pass through Moscow:

This airport was in ruins after the Chechan war, but it was repaired after the fighting died down, and was reopened for scheduled service in spring 2007. There's still occasional violence in Chechnya, but airplanes no longer have to spiral down from directly above the airport to avoid rocket fire. Here's a story from fall 2007:
