About philippe
I used to be in the information technology field, but as a consequence of my mid-life crisis I now own and manage Dorval Aviation, a flight school and charter operator based at CYUL. We have C172s for rent, as well as a C172 floatplane during the summer (May-October) season. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need info and tips about flying in the Montreal area.

A high tension powerline runs accross the runway 18 threshold. Landings are to the north only, takeoffs to the south only.
The Cargair base at Lac Kaigamac is closed, fuel is available a few miles north at the Marina "Nautique" in St-Michel-des-Saints on Lac Taureau
Watch out for arrester cables about 1500 from the tresholds, used for fighter jets. Even when they are lowered they are not something you want to roll over at high speed, especially with light GA aircraft. There are orange markers on each side of the runway at the cable positions.
There is a 20$ passenger fee but the terminal has free wifi and a reasonably cheap restaurant.
Good seaplane base and adjacent gravel airport, wide and smooth and well maintained. Dash-8s land here to transport hunters. Avgas and Jet-A pumps available at the dock and at the strip. Fuel price is reasonable since it can be delivered by road (this is about as far as the road goes!). The dock has room for five or six seaplanes. Buzz the adjacent outfitter buildings so that they know you're arriving (the buildings are about a mile away).
one of the pilots for Air Montmagny also produces and sells maple syrup from his farm. 7.50$ CAD a can and it's very good. Available from the FBO.
