My comment about Lachute Airport

(plain text only)

Flew three friends here from Rockcliffe CYRO for lunch. It was a Friday, about 1:30, when I arrived.

Very busy - there were helicopter arrivals and departures, as well as lots of movements of SE fixed wing. The flying club / restaurant is at the east end of the runway (no taxiway), and there were several overshoots due to traffic not having yet cleared the runway (CSE4 uses R28 whenever possible, which results in less backtracking that R10).

No issues with language - lots of english in the circuit, with some french.

And the food!!! I had a simple club sandwich, and it was tasty beyond belief. With a ton of well-cooked frend fries. Those that had the smoked meat sandwich also raved about the food.

Finally made it to this great little airport with the promised good eats. The flight from CYRO was a dream to plan and fly, arriving to the circuit do not expect to hear anything on the unicom if you call up in English. I made 3 field advisory requests with no response, joined mid downwind for 10 from the upwind side and did not see or hear any traffic. Upon landing a french flier came in and got the full treatment. Most pilots in the area give position reports in French. If you are totally anglo it makes for a bit of scare factor trying to sort out who is where.

Not just the airport but the whole town is friendly -- they even offer free taxi service to and from the airport (I didn't take them up on it last time). I think there are also free loaner bicycles. Be prepared to hear mostly French in the circuit, though.
