KGSO-An enroute stop

When USAIRWAYS closed the Cincinnati Station in 1997, I was forced to transfer and here's where I went. I liked the people, loved the area and left some good friends here on my way to KCMH where I polished off my career.

Short runway and difficult approaches but picturesque.

Nice little airport tucked away in a river valley, Transylvania County is home to some nice folks.

Fine facility at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains

5000' runway, nice approaches, and super nice people. Lest I forget, there's also the 57A cafe next to the terminal. It's not haute cuisine but it is convenient and the pretty good.

I fly into 1A5 about 6 times per year from South Florida. Atl radar can keep you till 7000 below that you need clear skies there is no instrument appproach. Toccoa Toc is a great alternate with a GPS approach and is in the foothills of the mountains. Franklin has a very friendly staff and a real nice FBO. I suggest landing on RWY 25 and taking off on RWY 7. Fly Safe Brett Panter flyern2568mike@aol.com
